Consolidation by Vertical Drains Considering the Rheological Characteristics of Soil under Depth and Time-Dependent Loading

چکیده
Vertical drains have been widely used in soil improvement projects to accelerate consolidation and improve the strength of soft soil. Previous models are mainly based on instantaneous loading, which cannot reflect actual time-variable loading condition. This paper presents a set analytical solutions for with vertical under depth time-dependent involving one-step multi-step cyclic loading. A four-element model, is combination Merchant model Maxwell introduced consider rheological characteristics By simulating results test, it found that more accurate than predicting changes pore pressure settlement during clay process. Settlements and Consolidation Rates under Embankments in a Soft Soil with Vertical Drains
In this paper, a study was carried out in order to estimate settlements and consolidation rates under embankments constructed on Moroccan soft soils. Settlement measurements in several embankments in High Speed Railway project between two Moroccan cities, Tangier and Assilah, were analyzed. The objective of this study is to estimate settlement values and settlement rates, with sufficient prec...
متن کاملThree-Dimensional Analysis of Soft Soil Consolidation improved by Prefabricated Vertical Drains
A system of prefabricated vertical drains (PVDs) with a surcharge load is an effective method for accelerating soil consolidation by promoting radial flow. This study presents a three-dimensional (3D) finite element model for soft soil improved by a single drain. In the finite element analysis, the actual rectangular PVD cross-section is considered, and the equivalent drain diameter is then bac...
متن کاملAnalysis of soil consolidation by vertical drains with double porosity model
The soil around a drain well is traditionally divided into smeared zone and undisturbed zone with constant hydraulic conductivity. In reality, hydraulic conductivity of the soil changes continuously and it may not be always appropriate to approximate its distribution with two zones. In this study, the horizontal hydraulic conductivity of the soil is described by an arbitrary function of radial ...
متن کاملEffects of partially penetrating prefabricated vertical drains and loading patterns on vacuum consolidation
In this study, numerical modeling of a multi-drain system is employed to determine the optimum penetration depth of prefabricated vertical drains (PVDs) and the vacuum pressure that provides the maximum consolidation settlement and less lateral displacements. The plane strain analysis using an equivalent permeability with transformed unit cell geometry was considered for varying drain length an...
متن کاملComparison of Radial Consolidation Behavior of Clay under Three Types of Cyclic Loading
Vertical drains and stone columns which have been used in infrastructure construction for highways, ports, coastal regions, etc., provide significant benefits for improving soil characteristics such as reducing the drainage length and accelerating the consolidation process. So the investigation of the radial consolidation is inevitable. Soils may be subjected to cyclic loading such as silos, ta...
